Tweet United: Twitter & United Way Back-to-School Computer Contest
San Francisco [Oct. 16, 2012] Twitter and United Way of America are sponsoring, Tweet United, a back-to-school competition. Urban high schools across the United States will compete for new computers via a Tweet Contest.

  • Twitter will donate new computers to the winning school through United Way’s Teaming for Technology Program.

  • Schools have until September 1, 2013 to request for eligibility and should email to apply.


  • Must be a high school located in the United States.

  • Schools must prove low technology budgets.

  • Schools must currently have computer models from 2008 or prior.


  • Tweeting begins Oct. 1, 2013 at 9 am.

  • Tweeting ends Oct. 14, 2013 at 9am.

  • The school that Tweets #schoolnameT4T the most times during this two week period wins.

  • The winning school will receive 35 refurbished computers, donated by Twitter Inc.


Get Involved with T4T:

  • United Way program that donates refurbished computers to schools, and is committed to “narrowing the Achievement Gap by bridging the digital divide”.

  • United Way is a national network of more than 1,300 local organizations.

Both Twitter and United Way support technology education for our country’s youth. Teaming for Technology will be in charge of narrowing down the eligible applicants. Twitter will help promote the contest and will supply the winning school with new computers.
