Max Statkiewicz holds doctorates in philosophy from the University of Paris IV-Sorbonne and in comparative literature from SUNY-Stony Brook. He is currently associate professor of comparative literature at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has published essays on the relationship between philosophy and literature, on the theater of Brecht and Artaud, a book Rhapsody of Philosophy: Dialogue with Plato in Contemporary Thought, and a translation of Ulrike Dünkelsbühler's book on parergonal translation in Kant and Derrida.

Education: Prof. Dr.Rahilya Geybullayeva received her PhD in Theory of Literature from Lomonosov Moscow State University, and “doctor nauk” on Azerbaijani Literature and Theory of Literature from Literary Institute, Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences. She is the head of the Azerbaijani Literature Department at Baku Slavic University, lecturer on Azerbaijani Literature, Comparative Literature, Comparative Culture. Prof. Geybullayeva is a founding head of Azerbaijan Comparative Literature Association (www.azcla.org), member for Academic Council of the Highest Attestation Commission (VAK) on Literary Studies and Linguistics, founding member of ISCH (International Society for Cultural History, representative of IASS (International Association for Semiotic Studies) for Azerbaijan, expert for Kyoto Prize (Japan) in art and philosophy (2008, 2012);

Grants: She was UNESCO fellow at SOAS, London, Visiting Professor at the Comparative Literature Department Wisconsin University-Madison, USA (Fulbright) and Carnegie fellow at the Berkeley Program in Eurasian and East European Studies. Her public and keynote lectures, group projects have been grantesed by ABRALIC (Brazil) (2007), UW-Madison (2009), Nancy-2 University of France (2009, 2010), HUB (Humboldt University-Berlin) (December 2010, July 2012, November 2012), Foreign Ministry of Finland and ISI (June 2013). Her last project Online Studies and Distance Learning for Azerbaijani Literature Department (July 2013) has been funded by Senior Experten Program (Germany).

Prof. Geybullayeva was head of New Media Group in the project   “Support to the development of Journalism teaching in Azerbaijan”  initiated with BBC World Service Trust (UK) by grant of  European Union, launched at Journalism and Azerbaijani Litearture department,  Baku Slavic University  (2009-2010).

She was coordinator (with Prof. Dr. Irmtraud Stellrecht) and host for Summer schools with Institut für Ethnologie, Universität Tübingen at Baku Slavic University (July-October, 2008); with Universität Bonn (September, 2008) (both funded by DAAD); with Comparative Literature Department University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA, at Baku Slavic University.

Research: Dr. Geybullayeva is an author and editor of some collections, monograph and manuals. Member of Editorial Board of some Academic Journals on Humanities (Daugavpils University, Orenburg University). Her teaching and research interests cover unity in diversity and dialogue between cultures, concept and criteria of national literature and culture, culture in transition, cultural values in literature, literary contexts and methodology and theory in crossroads of history, religion, culture.

Her “История азербайджанской литературы” (History of Azerbaijani Literature) has been approved as textbook for Moscow State Linguistic University (since 2009). She is working on the book Cultural strata book by agreement with Edwin Mellen press (UK).
